About Sizar Alexis
Sizar Alexis is Iraqi born and Sweden based designer who creates objects that evoke stillness, presence, and quiet strength through geometric forms. His work explores the raw and inherent beauty of natural materials, allowing their elemental qualities to speak through sculptural compositions.
Beyond a material-driven approach, Sizar weaves personal and cultural narratives into his design practice, drawing from the rich architectural and spiritual heritage of ancient Mesopotamia and his Chaldean background. He is particularly drawn to architectural and geometric configurations that do not necessarily reveal their function, forms that invite reflection rather than deliver immediate clarity.
Through his work, Sizar explores identity, cultural continuity, and presence positioning his practice within the layered contexts of the Mesopotamien diaspora and contemporary design.
Sizar Alexis was born in Ankawa, just outside the city of Erbil in northern Iraq. In 1997, he moved to Sweden with his family and settled in Eskilstuna. During his studies at Beckmans College of Design, he started to explore his interest in designing objects and sculptural furniture. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Engineering (2009) and Fine Arts (2019).
